๐Ÿ“ˆMarkets & Business:

Investing 101 from Billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya

101 is an understatement. Chamath received his billion-dollar status when he was an early executive at Facebook. Thatโ€™s not why you should listen to him. You should listen to him because he manages and invests his own money, and heโ€™s done extremely well. I personally take people's advice more seriously when they have skin in the game. These are the guidelines you should be following. Feel them, learn them and then apply them. It's a great thread.

Warren Buffet invests $250M in Snowflake

The difference between journalists & investors is how numbers are viewed (sometimes). Snowflake is a cloud data platform (donโ€™t ask me what that means) that just went public at a $30B valuation. Warren Buffet invested $250M at the IPO price of $120. That's the price new investors buy from older investors. The stock opened at $270+, because of so much demand. This tweet is a bad take. Yes, the three numbers in this tweet are real, but they're lacking context. Money spent can create RECURRING revenue, and the recurring is based on customer satisfaction. The more a customer loves a product, the more likely you'll be making money off them for the foreseeable future. Thatโ€™s what justifies a high VALUATION, or how much people are willing to pay. Itโ€™s what a company CAN be. If the market thinks it's overpriced, it should correct overtime.

Jim Cramer Gets Convinced to Buy Bitcoin!

The Pomp Podcast- Jum Cramer Becomes a Bitcoin Bull

Jim Cramer has been the boomerโ€™s champ for a long time. If you want to understand bitcoin, inflation the whatโ€™s happening with the US dollar, this is a must-listen. I think you'll be convinced of Bitcoin if you weren't already before. Anthony Pompliano is an incredible host who walks Jim Cramer through all the reasons why Bitcoin is the new Gold. Anthony, otherwise known as Pomp, will be on Talk Money Season 3!

๐Ÿ  Real Estate:

Rental Properties Has Forever Been a Good Investment

Before Arnold Schwarzenegger made Terminator money, he bought a small apartment building. Living in NYC, it seems impossible to buy property as rental income. The reality is people do this around the country and you donโ€™t need millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it. Take Sheel, a self-made entrepreneur who bought his first property for $47K. I'm personally fascinated by this idea now. Rental income (depends on area) can be stable during turbulent times. Stay tuned for Season 3 of Talk Money for our episode on rental income real estate.

Kanye Knows Ownership & Equity is Everything

Kanye can sometimes say something prolific. Ownership is everything when it comes to building wealth and passing it down. Itโ€™s a recurring theme I've seen in my podcast interviews. Think about any successful/wealthy musician/artist. They own the rights to their work. Elton John, Prince (eventually) The Rolling Stones, and of course Michal Jackson. Kanye has an incredible catalog. When I originally moved to NYC, I wanted to be a songwriter. You have certain monetary rights as a writer. As an artist, you want to own the masters-the original recording of your music. They can be very valuable. Why do you think Scooter Braun raised capital to buy Taylor Swift's catalog? It's an investment that will last a long time.

That's all for this week! I hope you enjoyed the seventh issue of Talk Money Weekly. If you haven't already subscribed to my podcast, Talk Money, do so here. Make sure you listen to our latest episode "Black in Business". Stay tuned for our trailer for Season 3 which is going to be pretty amazing. More on that soon.
